Daniel St-Amant was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In 2000 he received his Diploma of College Studies (D.E.C) of Fine Arts in painting and graphic design, from Champlain College in Lennoxville, Quebec. In 2005 he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) from the esteemed Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). In 2009 Daniel successfully completed a graduate diploma from Seneca at York University in Visual Effects for film and television. Combined with his fine art knowledge and strong design and technical skills he currently works as a visual artist and VFX artist at one of the top feature film studios in Toronto.
Daniel is collected both nationally and internationally and has been featured in a variety of cultural art and news publications. He has also received multiple VFX credits on Hollywood features for his digital paintings and compositing work. In 2015 Daniel was invited to participate in The Golden Encore artist residency at Algonquin Park.
Daniels use of modern roadways emphasizes our global footprint by capturing tire tracks from climate affecting technologies. The distinct markings of tire tracks creates his backdrop to which he paints his animal portraits. This unique process is helping him create a reputation in the art world.
